Megaman Zero is the second new Megaman franchise to see the light of day on the Game Boy Advance. Unlike the Battle Network series, Megaman Zero brings the series back to its roots as a fun action side-scroller. In the year 22XX, decades have past since the lone Maverick Hunter X succeeded in obliterating the Maverick resistance. In the years that ensued, the world attempted to heal the wounds caused by the Mavericks. But a government faction, called Neo Arcadia, has launched an oppressive regime of genocide against all remaining Reploids. A group of survivors, seeking to escape the watchful eyes of Neo Arcadia, flee to a ruined city where they are ambushed by Neo Arcadian troopers. Many are killed. Witnessing the violence, a human scientist named Ciel survives and recalls, from history, a great Reploid that fought against evil. That Reploid is Zero. And now, having been sealed away in a capsule to eliminate all traces of his Maverick programming, it is Zero's turn to awaken in a world far, far different from the 21XX he used to know. Can Zero lead the retaliation and topple Neo Arcadia? Can he save the remnants of the Reploid race from this nightmare? Will he learn what became of his lost friend, X? The future is now.
